Grassroots Football Show is back: Bigger and better than ever!

The Grassroots Football Show returns to the airwaves next Thursday 27th July, and it returns bigger and better for 2017-18.

Adam Richardson & Peter Dudley return with a look at all the local grassroots football action in the ELR region, with our new 42-part series that will run from 27th July to 24th May 2018 and the lads cannot wait to back started. Over the summer period, you've been hearing the Summer Specials, a variety of interviews featuring the local faces in the region and they have been this a roaring success so we thank those who have listened and enjoyed the shows.

The boys are back and despite the show gaining popularity all over East London and Essex all over time, there is a number of tweaks that have taken place to make the show more structured for the season ahead.

The hosts of the Grassroots Football Show:
Adam "The Master" Richardson, and Pete "DJ Ped" Dudley

This season, the show will have a whole new format, with the following commitments:

  • More in-depth focus on the Essex Senior League, as we are the official ESL radio station, with up to 45minutes of coverage a week on the ESL
  • Weekly 25-minute In Focus feature with our guests
  • A new dedicated email address: elrgrassroots@gmail.com
  • Show to be available to listen back to on Mixcloud from 11pm every Thursday night.
  • More coverage and analysis on the Intermediate scene including Essex Olympian League, Essex Alliance League, Essex Sunday Football Combination and Greater London Women's League
  • A variety of guests from all backgrounds from all different leagues, including supporters, match observers and match referees.
  • More listener and supporter interaction
  • Christmas and Summer Specials each season
  • Three season review shows at the end of the season
  • Live on-air coverage of the Essex Senior League and Essex Alliance League cup draws
  • More match reports and live coverage of local matches via our social media feeds and website
  • Frequent recorded features and interviews with managers and local faces of football in the region
  • Live uninterrupted Facebook Live coverage of ALL ESL Cup Finals and Essex Alliance League Cup Finals

Next Thursday's show sees a look ahead to the Essex Senior League season, which starts next Saturday 29th July. Adam and Pete will be joined by Dan Wilson to look back at all the pre-season managerial changes and events, and look ahead to the first weekend's fixtures and discuss who will be up the top and fighting a relegation dogfight in what is a massive year for the league. Could we see the most competitive ESL season of all time?

What's more in an East London Radio first, we will have live coverage of the draws for the Essex Senior League cup competitions, namely the Errington Challenge Cup, Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy and Reserve Shield. Pete and Dan will conduct the draw which shall be adjudicated overseen by League chairman Rob Errington and League Secretary Michelle Dorling.

There will be a host of new features on the show including:

  • Predictions: Pete and Scott Waple go head-to-head with a selected contestant each week to predict the ESL matches (Saturday matches only)
  • Neil Day Returns: Woodford Town assistant Neil Day returns with an alternative look at the grassroots football world through his well-drawn, artistic and hilarious comics - as well as his and Adam's history feature of abandoned non-league football grounds in the ELR region.
  • Supporter Interaction: More audio match reports, phone-ins and interaction between the supporters
Guest Bookings:
We as a show have decided to operate a booking system going forward, guests will be entered into the booking system on a date they are offered or wish to come in. We endeavour to book guests in with at least two weeks notice, and we pledge to send confirmation out to guests on the Sunday/Monday before their appearance. However, we do request that should guests have to bow out or at risk of not being able to make it, that they give us 48 hours notice, so by Tuesday night, to give us time to find a replacement if need be. We do appreciate that Thursdays can be difficult for people in non-league as a lot of clubs train.

Supporter Interaction:
We want the supporters of our local clubs, if you have audio match reports or anything you wish to send us then email an audio match report of your game at elrgrassroots@gmail.com and we will do our best to include them on the show, or if not on our Mixcloud.

With the help of relief presenters Danny Lee and Damian Clark, and regular pundits such as Scott Waple, Dan Wilson and Richard Brock we hope the show can be better than ever. Whether it's Adam's jokes, Pompey, doubtful women or talking about "Garrywood", or Damian's latest centre half heroics, or Pete losing it over another Norwich and Sunderland defeat, or an EssexFootie zinger, please keep listening to the show, we thank you for your support. We couldn't do it without you.
