SAT, 22 JUL 2017 | PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY | MABLEY GREEN
Stansted travelled to Brimsdown on Saturday in a pre-season friendly
The Airportmen made a fairly bright start to the game and there was a good tempo involved, but no real cut chances were created until the 15th minute when Stansted hit the post following some good play.
Both sides continued to try play some good football in tricky conditions, Brimsdown also went close in the first half with a couple of opportunities. However, the first half finished on a heated note, following a confrontation between Brimsdown's number 5 and a Stansted player, with the Spartan League Division One's player having to be restrained and led away by a team-mate, but the referee blew for half-time four minutes early to try and diffuse the situation.
In the second half, the conditions worsened as the match went on and made the surface extremely slippery, which made it very difficult for both sides to play football. The "hosts" scored the only goal of the game with 10 minutes.
The rain was hammering down very hard and both sides just played out the time on a very slick pitch. Paul Pittuck's side will be disappointed with defeat, but it is a brand new team that is gelling together, and pre-season is all about preparation.
